The Blackhawk and Central City Blog

January 30

Spent quite a bit of time in surveying this week. Upper Blackhawk (my engine servicing facilities, the car shops, and a couple of industry tracks) is pretty much done. I still need to decide on which industries will be hanging off the tracks and survey the car shop tracks, but I think next week will include laying road bed in Upper Blackhawk and looking at the implications of putting hand laid track over the double track trestle that I'm putting in to go over the NY Mill (as well as how I'm going to kit bash the Hunterline trestle kit that I want to use as source for this.

I've also been thinking about changing the final parts of the track. I'm feeling that what I had originally called Central City would function better as one of the mines that were located along the track from Black Hawk up to Central City and that the final town of Nevadaville should be renamed Central City. I'm also thinking of putting a second wye in up there if I can convince myself that it would work. This also leaves open the possibility of extending off the end of the Wye some day to a new switchback that would proceed up to Nevadaville (if I feel like it).

My three sets of M1 1mm screws, bushings and nuts arrived from across the pond late in the week. Still waiting on the brass and Delrin parts from PSC to get back to engine construction. I'm also realizing that I need to get back to finishing the snow plow car that is looks suspiciously like an unfinished flat.
