The Blackhawk and Central City Blog

February 14

I've spent the last week cataloging the tools that I'm going to need to get my hands on to actually do the driver/engine work *correctly* (my emphasis) as well as picking up some of the recommended source material...

In the meantime, track work continues. Spiking on the Chamberlain Works/Randolph Mill trackage is now finished, leaving only the New York Mill siding and associated mainline track on the lower level. I've laid a fair amount of roadbed in Upper Blackhawk and finished surveying what will be the trestle over the New York Mill scene. I plan on starting surveying the switchback up to Central City this week. I don't know how far I'll get before I run out of PCB ties, but I've got more on order that I hope to have by the week's end. In the meantime, I'll aim to finish laying roadbed in Upper Blackhawk (including cutting out the ash pit part of the track).
