The B&CC Water Towers

Support Truss

The support truss is constructed from scale 12" poles spaced scale 3.5' apart. To aid in spacing a jig was constructed. Scale 1"x6" is used for truss bracing attached with white glue.
Scale 1"x6" is also used for sway bracing, which is applied using white glue and following prototypical practice. The easiest way to do this is to work from the inside out. Lastly, the outside sway braces are reversed to prevent fouling with the truss braces.
Scale 12"x12" is used for truss caps and applied with more white glue.
Scale 4"x12" are cut to length and attached crossways to the truss caps with white glue. After this step, a bullet level is used to check level of the top surface and a mini-rasp used to ensure the top surface is level.
